Profile

Tartaglia is an unpredictable subject from the lands of Snezhnaya. No need to guess what their intentions are. You just have to take this into account: behind that innocent and childish appearance, hides a precise and perfect war machine. »

~ Description on the official website

Appearance

Tartaglia has short choppy orange hair and dull blue eyes. He wears a red Fatui mask removed from the side of his head. She also wears a beaded earring with a red crystal in her left ear.

He wears a gray jacket with dark red and light gray accents, gray pants, and black boots and gloves. Her jacket is left unbuttoned at the end to reveal a belt, to which her Vision Hydro is attached, and she wears short gloves that expose her wrist. Instead, they are held up with buttons, with the outer edge decorated with a black symbol. He also wears a red banner across his chest and over his left shoulder, infused with a faint Hydro effect when in the melee stance of his Elemental Skill: Legacy of Evil: Raging Waves.

During the Battle of the Golden House, Tartaglia uses his Deception to the right of his Vision in the center of his belt, and then moves his Vision to the empty slot on his right chest when he fully activates the Legacy of Evil Transformation.

Personality

Tartaglia describes himself as "some kind of bad boy", but not the kind who wants to cause trouble for the Traveler, but the kind who lives for the thrill of a fight and wreak havoc.

As a child, he was originally scared and hesitant, but secretly wished to become an adventurer while listening to his father's adventures. After falling into the Abyss, meeting and training with Skirk, he became the bloodthirsty warrior he is today. He's self-confident, extremely solipsistic, and cheeky, and enjoys the feeling of being alive. A warrior at heart, he is constantly looking for ways to strengthen himself, no matter what methods he uses or how he gains that power. He yearns for combat and gets excited when fighting particularly powerful enemies, even if it means he dies in the process, and he uses bows because he's weaker with them, making his victories with them even more exciting.

Due to his pride, Tartaglia is extremely reliable in accomplishing the tasks entrusted to him, no matter how difficult they are or how much they go against his values. Combined with its straightforward nature, this makes it easy to manipulate. Despite not liking how his plan could potentially harm innocents, he sets it in motion to fulfill his mission, only to find that it was destined to fail as part of an even bigger plan that he was unaware of, much to his dismay. .

Among the rest of the Heralds, Tartaglia is a weirdo. While the rest of the heralds use clandestine operations and remain behind the scenes, Tartaglia prefers to be front and center. In addition to his lust for battle and tendency to wreak havoc, he is a public figure known for attending social gatherings and even participating as an actor in plays. As a result, his co-workers distrust him, while he despises them for their "intangible" schemes and methods. This is shown by when he tells the Traveler that he is not a fan of La Signora's methods, and seems thoughtful when the Traveler mentions the Mondstadt incident as reason to distrust him. That said, he only resorts to such methods when he must, because he prefers to engage his enemies in one-on-one combat rather than luring them into traps.

While Tartaglia appears to help the Traveler on the surface, he is also using them for his own purposes: he makes Ekaterina eavesdrop on their conversations so that she can find out, through the traveler, the true objective of the 7 Stars of Liyue.

Tartaglia is pretty sure of himself and a bit cheeky; He says he uses bows because it's the weapon he's weakest in, making it even more exciting when he defeats powerful opponents with it. He doesn't think much about throwing his money away, even jokingly offering to let the Traveler rob the Bank of the Northern Kingdom if that puts it to his good graces.

To those who care, he dedicates himself wholeheartedly to them. He is completely loyal to the Tsarina and holds her in high regard, viewing himself as her weapon of war. He also cares deeply for his family; send money, gifts, and letters home frequently. He is also proud of his three siblings and adores them frequently, especially Teucer. He also sees the Traveler with a favorable outlook, compared to his co-workers who have known them so far.

He enjoys fishing, having come to appreciate this hobby very much before its drastic change. Even then, he continues to fish, but as a way of meditating, honing his stamina and contemplating his fighting techniques. He has no preferences or dislikes when it comes to what he eats, stating that a true warrior should not neglect what he eats in a manner similar to the weapon he uses.

History

Although he is already one of the Eleven, the highest governing body of the Fatui, he still acts like the adolescent that he is.

He is like a wolf in the body of a lamb: under his cheerful and confident guise lies a deadly swordsman.

He is the youngest of Los Eleven, but also one of the most dangerous.

However, Nobile doesn't seem to fit in well with the others.

As a fighter, he is quite at odds with this organization of deceit and betrayal.

Character story 1

As the youngest member of the Eleven in all of the Fatui history, Tartaglia has every right to do whatever he wants.

Although this lone wolf is not as well received by his companions and does not agree with their methods, he is a responsible and diligent young man who despises the chivalric ways of the Fatui.

He is a proud person who keeps his word. Even if you make an absurd promise, you will never break it.

Whether it's exterminating all the dragons in a lair, venturing into extremely dangerous Domains, or taking over a nobleman's territory singlehandedly, Tartaglia not only keeps his word, but does so with accuracy and precision, just like a surgeon with his scalpel.

Being at the forefront of The Eleven, Tartaglia can always be found in Snezhnaya's enemy territories on the prowl, before chaos breaks out.

Character story 2

Among the many myths of Snezhnaya, Tartaglia is said to have fought on the battlefield since she was 14 years old.

Surprisingly, even at that age, he already seemed to master handling all weapons and combat skills.

His great skill is accompanied by his passion for battle.

He enjoys risky fighting, and has an insatiable thirst to fight powerful opponents.

His arrogance, however, is backed by his extensive combat experience and exceptional skills.

However, concerned that his warlike personality could get them in trouble, the rest of The Eleven try to send him on missions as far away from Snezhnaya as possible for the good of all.

The funny thing is that he always seems to be in the center of chaos and conflict.

His extraordinary experiences and his eagerness to be continually praised make him quite cocky.

Unlike the other more low-key members of Los Once, Tartaglia often watches public shows and sometimes even participates in such events.

Character story 3

Ice fishing has been one of Tartaglia's hobbies since he was little.

Back then, it wasn't called "Tartaglia" or "Nobile". His name was Ajax, a name his father gave him in honor of the hero of an adventure story.

He and his father used to fish together sitting in front of a hole in a frozen lake.

Ice fishing was not an easy task. Sometimes it could take a whole morning.

However, whether it was while poking holes in the surface of a frozen lake or patiently waiting for the fish to take the hook, his father always accompanied him by telling him his many adventure stories from when he was young.

The young Ajax saw himself as an adventurer, so he paid attention to every little detail and always put himself in the shoes of the protagonist to prepare for his future.

Even after he started living apart from his family, ice fishing was still his favorite hobby, whether it was Ajax, Tartaglia or Nobile.

What changed was that his fishing days were no longer accompanied by stories, but by resistance training and meditation to reflect on fighting techniques.

After so many hours of meditation, he no longer cared if he caught something or not.

Character story 4

Contrary to what the world may think, Tartaglia was not born with his exceptional combat skills.

He learned them at a key moment in his life, but that is something he never tells anyone.

When he was 14 years old, he ran away from home with only a short sword and a bag of bread to escape his drab family.

He got lost inside in a snowy forest and, being chased by a pack of bears and wolves, fell into a bottomless hole.

There, he saw an ancient world of infinite possibilities and encountered a mysterious swordsman. Or rather, the kingdom of darkness had fixed on this ambitious young man.

Later, when he became Nobile of The Eleven, he could never again find out the truth behind that darkness.

During the 3 months that he was there, the swordsman taught him to move freely through the abyss.

Most importantly, it fueled their innate ability to provoke conflict.

No one knows what happened to Ajax during his time in the dark, as his lips remain sealed about it.

When his mother and sister finally found him inside the forest, they had only spent 3 days on earth.

Still retaining his rusty short sword, Ajax had completed the first adventure of his life.

This marked the end of his adolescence and his beginning as a warrior.

Character story 5

When he returned home, the young man was no longer the same.

He was no longer scared or indecisive, but had become frivolous and confident.

He acted as if this world revolved around him, and as if war existed by and for him.

Conflicts cause change, and this whimsical and unpredictable change appealed to Ajax like a hypnotic kaleidoscope.

In the eyes of his father, his third son and whom he cared so much about, he had changed for the worse and wreaked unnecessary havoc on his peaceful life on the coast.

Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that Ajax had become a very troublesome person, because wherever he went, there were fights and disputes, with which he delighted.

Until one day, after a violent fight in which there were even victims, his father had only to hand over his beloved son as a recruit to the Fatui.

He hoped that the Fatui's strict military training could sharpen his temperament, but Ajax ended up defeating all the soldiers, who were fully armed, and driving them to flee.

This was a great disappointment for his father, but it also caught the attention of Pulcinella, number seven of Los Once.

Shocked by Ajax's great strength, and interested in how Ajax became the center of discord, Pulcinella brought Ajax into the Fatui under the pretext of "imposing punishment on him" and forcing him to start from the bottom and accept the duty to serve. Archon Cryo.

His insatiable desire for victory would always be sated if he fought with the Fatui, and his ever-increasing ego would feed on the euphoria of defeating powerful foes.

Until finally, Ajax was chosen to be one of the Eleven of the Fatui under the name of Tartaglia "Nobile" and becoming one of the most powerful people in Snezhnaya.

But becoming Tartaglia was not his ultimate goal. For someone looking to conquer the world, this was just a small step on their long journey.

Letter from the Tartaglia family

"Dear sister, is everyone okay at home? Has dad's headache gotten better?

Please say hello to Daddy, Mommy and our siblings.

I have sent some cold and headache medicine from Liyue port.

They are very effective, and will surely prevent you from constantly complaining if you get sick. They should receive them in a few days.

Aside from for dad, I haven't forgotten the gifts for all of you.

This letter should come to you with two Liyue kites, a rattlesnake, two porcelain Inazuma figures, and a box full of food.

And please tell Anthon that the residents of Liyue are humans like us, not people of stone.

They don't eat stones either, that wouldn't make any sense.

Don't worry about me, Tonia, and don't cause anyone too much trouble. I'll be home soon.

When I have delivered the Seven Stars of Liyue to Her Majesty the Czarina, I will take a boat to go home, just as I promised, and you know that I always keep what I say.

Atte .: Your most loyal knight ".

Cheated

The Tartaglia Deception is his oldest badge of honor, as well as the proof of his strength.

He still clearly remembers the day he received it and rose to become one of The Eleven.

Pierrot, the first of the Fatui, personally affixed this insignia to the cold and severe Zarina.

It was Tartaglia's reward for slaying terrible beasts and the memory of having fought countless battles.

But this did not bring him joy, since honor is a warrior's own reward.

Nor did he pay attention to the strange looks with which his new "colleagues" were looking at him, since the opinions and criticisms of others meant nothing to him.

What really moved the young man was seeing the Tsarina on her great throne. This filled him with respect and admiration for her, since she was the one who had shown him the way to endless battles and who looked at him in the most special way.

His gaze was cold and pure, arrogant and sharp. She was not only the celestial Archon Cryo, but also a true warrior.

Thus, after receiving his Deception, Nobile swore allegiance to the rightful Tsarina of Snezhnaya.

Birthday...

Happy Birthday mate! Is there someone you need to beat up today? Tell me and I will be happy to help you.

    Curiosities

    • Tartaglia comes from a large family, with an ambiguous number of older brothers (probably two older brothers and at least one older sister) and three younger brothers: Tonia, Anthon, and Teucer, with Teucer being the youngest. In her official introduction of the character in English, Tonia boasts that she can cook and clean, and is "the best big brother ever!"
    • Tartaglia's weakness with bows and his preference for melee weapons may be a reference to Ajax's mythological strength in spears.
    • He is the first playable character from Snezhnaya, although he is affiliated with the Port of Liyue on the official website, as that is the region in which the player meets him.
    • Tartaglia's melee stance shares similarities with the Hydro abilities of an Emissary of the Abyss; They both form double blades made of raw Hydro element and make similar fast, wide cuts as they move towards an enemy. Given the time he spent learning the ways to fight in the abyss, it is possible that he or Skirk modeled his fighting skills based on the Emissaries, if he did not emulate them directly.
    • Tartaglia is the only bowbearer who holds his bow with his right hand and draws with his left on the "character" screen, indicating that he could be left-handed.
    • In his Normal Attack, the last arrow he shoots with his hand deals the most damage.
    • Tartaglia has no sparkle in his eyes.

    Etymology

    • In the commedia dell'arte, Tartaglia is a common character; Unlike other common characters, his role in the story often varies, but is distinguished by his clairvoyance and stuttering.
    • The alias given to him in Chapter I, Act I is inconsistently translated in different language versions. Because Tartaglia is his actual title and not his alias, the languages that used comedy names as the aliases of the other Heralds had to use a different title for him.
      • Her English alias "Childe" is a direct translation of her Chinese alias. Childe is an archaic English word that refers to the son of a nobleman who has not yet achieved knighthood.
      • In Chinese, he introduces himself as "Nobile" (公子, Gōngzǐ, literally "young nobleman"). Commedia dell'arte names are always translated into Chinese when used as aliases, so there is no overlap between your alias and your Italian comedy name.
      • In Japanese, he introduces himself as Tartaglia before telling the Traveler to call him "Nobile" (公子, Koushi, literally "young nobleman"). While his name appears as Tartaglia in his dialog boxes, all the other characters call him "Nobile". Similar to Chinese, media names are always translated into Japanese when used as aliases.
      • In particular, the French translation used Tartaglia for its alias.
      • In German, his name was translated as "Graf", which means count.
    • Tartaglia's birth name, Ajax, is derived from the Greek mythological figure Ajax the Great, a warrior who participated in the Trojan War, known as a tough and strong spearman. Teucer was the younger half-brother of Ajax the Great and a goalkeeper who fought alongside him.
