Diluc Ragnvindr is a playable character in Genshin Impact. He is the current owner of Dawn Vine and a nobleman of high esteem in Mondstadt society. Although he seems listless about the affairs of the city, he protects it at night like the rumored "Dark Hero".

    Summary

    Profile

As the richest man in Mondstadt, Diluc always shows his finest side. However, his true nature is that of a warrior with great determination. He protects Mondstadt with all his might at all times.

    Appearance

Diluc has porcelain-like skin with a slim, athletic build, crimson red eyes, and scarlet hair that she always wears as a messy ponytail that extends to the middle of her back. He wears a black coat that is adorned with gold trim and tassels, ending with ebony fur trim, and wears black pants that are adorned with chains on his right thigh, while his Vision is set on his left thigh. Diluc also wears gloves, which are black on the top, while the bottom is tinted red.

    Personality

Kaeya calls Diluc an "antihero with attitude problems". Diluc was once a confident and passionate young man, dedicated to his work with the Knights of Favonius. But after his father's untimely death, Diluc grew distant and bitter. He does not like to waste time in idle chatter and is easily impatient.

Diluc has a particular resentment towards the Knights of Favonius, whom he calls "inefficient" and despises at all times. This grudge stems from Inspector Eroch's way of dealing with his father's death, and Diluc has not reduced his grudge even after Eroch has been fired from the Knights as a traitor.

Despite his complicated emotions towards the Knights, Diluc believes that both Lisa and Jean are some of his best members. He still respects them for all the work they do for people. He has bitter words but is kind and considerate in nature.

Diluc does not like alcohol, he states that he does not like its taste and prefers grape juice. However, this does not seem to be very well known to many, probably as a result of him being the current owner of the largest wine producer in Mondstadt. He is even shocked when he learns that Diona also hates alcohol, as she initially believed that he was the only bartender in Mondstadt who did not like alcohol. And because he tends to part with his possessions, he sold his father's private residence.

    History

As a city of odes and wine, the Mondstadt winery business is known throughout Teyvat.

Diluc is the owner of Viñedo del Amanecer and who controls more than half of Mondstadt's winery business. This means that you also have control over the flow of information, rumors, and money.

In a way, Diluc is the crownless king of Mondstadt.

    Character story 1

The air of Mondstadt is always permeated with the smell of wine.

If one followed that scent, it would take one to Diluc's Dawn Vineyard.

Beneath the name of the vineyard, proudly printed on a wooden plaque, there is a sign that reads:

    "Don't forget your roots."

Most believe it means that the wines remain true to their original taste.

For their part, the more pragmatic Knights are reminded of the long history of mutual support between the vineyard and the city.

From time to time parties are held in it, during which there are always enthusiastic parents who wish to make the young, single Master of the Vineyard their son-in-law, introducing him to their eager daughters.

Comments from others usually come in the form of teasing:

"Thanks to Los Siete, Maestro Diluc is married to the vineyard and is dedicated to making our stomachs happy".

No matter who or what shows up, their responses are always impeccable.

Diluc is an extraordinary gentleman who never leaves any loose ends.

    Character story 2

Diluc always avoids talking about the past.

"I wish Diluc was still a member of the Knights."

Older gentlemen still speak of it with a degree of regret.

It was something that happened a long time ago. Diluc's father was Master Crepus, the former owner of the Dawn Vineyard.

Young Diluc lived up to his father's expectations and passed the knight's trials, becoming a member of the esteemed Knights of Favonius thanks to the training and discipline he received as a son of the Ragnvindr family. Diluc was also promoted to the rank of Cavalry Captain in a relatively short period of time.

Little by little, the people of Mondstadt got to know the passionate young Mayor through countless missions and patrols.

Whatever the missions demanded of him, he always maintained his composure and passion. Whatever challenge it was, his sword always carried him to the fore. The praise he received from his comrades and citizens encouraged him.

But the highest praise of all was:

"Good job. I'm proud of you, son."

His father's words fueled the fire within his heart and served as his greatest motivation.

This faith burned strong and bright within him.

That's how Diluc was back then.

    Character story 3

"A man's life can change in a matter of seconds," Crepus told Diluc on the fateful day that turned out to be the end of Diluc's path as a Knight.

That day, a horrible monster attacked the caravan that he and his father were escorting.

There was no time for Diluc to call for reinforcements. The monster was stronger than any enemy it had faced and was consequently defeated.

The outcome of this battle was beyond what Diluc could foresee. Crepus, disadvantaged by the gods and denied entry to the Knights, defeated the monster with a hitherto unknown evil power that eventually consumed him. Crepus died shortly after in the arms of his son.

With a great weight on his heart, Diluc returned to the headquarters of the Knights, where the commander ordered something unthinkable: to hide the truth.

They told him that, in his public statements, he must say that what happened was an unfortunate accident in order to maintain the reputation of the Knights of Favonius.

Diluc was so outraged at this request that he didn't think it was worth trying to argue.

Crepus once said that the world would never turn its back on a loyal man.

However, the Knights of Favonius stepped on their faith as if it were nothing important.

Then, he couldn't help but wonder; What was your father's concept of "loyalty" in his last moments of life?

Diluc renounced the Knights and left everything behind, including his Vision.

He vowed to take revenge on his father and discover the source of that evil power that caused his death.

    Character story 4

After resigning from the Knights and renouncing the Vision, Diluc entrusted the management of the Dawn Vineyard to the house's head maid and left Mondstadt.

On his journey through the Seven Nations, he found clues to the secret he promised to uncover.

Everything pointed to a monstrous and gigantic organization: the Fatui. The Fatui secretly made false Visions and called them "Deception." Tricks could amplify their wielder's power, but they also ran the risk of being counterproductive.

That was what caused the death of Crepus, his father.

Did your father obtain such a sacrilegious object to do good?

Diluc never knew. However, he refused to back down before learning the whole truth.

Like an eagle prowling the desert, he set out on his search for the truth. Determination burned like fire in her heart.

No unfathomable mystery or endless battle could divert him from his path. Thus, what did not kill him, made him stronger.

However, he encountered the Eleven, the Fatui's greatest force, when he drew too much attention after razing numerous of their strongholds.

Luckily, he was saved from the brink of death thanks to an "observer" from the north who was part of a vast underground information network. He claimed that he had been observing Diluc for a while, and that he agreed with his methods.

After this close encounter with death, Diluc reflected on himself and his actions, which were the cause of his accumulated anger over the years. After much thought, he decided to join this information network.

Just like when he first joined the Knights, Diluc was fully committed to the job and progressively rose to the top of the information network thanks to his talents and abilities.

There were not a few who voluntarily gave up their reputation, status and even name to join the network.

Could you restore the faith you once held by working with them? That faith that had been nearly destroyed after his father's death?

    Character story 5

"Don't forget your roots." The background of this motto is very controversial, but for Diluc it has a simple and clear meaning.

"Evil cannot go unpunished. Never settle for mediocrity. Never forget that dawn will one day come."

Diluc's lonely journey lasted three years.

Four years later, Diluc had returned to Mondstadt and assumed the position of head of the family winery, now as a young adult.

In the space of these four years, Eroch had been expelled from the Knights of Favonius after he was proven to be a traitor, while Grand Master Varka had gone off on an expedition, leaving Maester Jean in charge of Grand Master. Intendant Master.

The return of the master of the Dawn Vineyard must have been a momentous event for Mondstadt, but strangely it went completely unnoticed.

The reason? The citizens of Mondstadt were too busy pondering the mysterious case of an unknown "Protector of Mondstadt."

All that was known about the anonymous guardian was that he left a burning smell behind him, and that a flash of red flames revealed his silhouette for a moment in the dead of night, before disappearing in an instant.

The bodies of the monsters that had plagued Mondstadt for an eternity now lay dead in the wasteland ... Mondstadt's most wanted robbers suddenly appeared bound and gagged, dangling from their feet in the statue square ...

All the Knights of Favonius were sent to face off once and for all against the Abyss Wizard who was behind countless crimes in the city, only to find out that he had been murdered long ago ...

Aided by wine-fueled conversations, news of the mysterious guardian quickly spread, eventually becoming known as the "Dark Hero."

In public, Diluc seemed to despise this hero. His face twisted in disgust every time his name was spoken.

Elzer, of the Mondstadt Wine Producers Guild, was one of the select few who knew, and was once asked by Diluc: "Is your disapproval of the Dark Hero just a front, with the intention that the knights lose? your trail and thus protect your anonymity? "

But Diluc just scowled once more and replied dryly "It's a stupid name."

    Dawn Vineyard Cider

Diluc could have the entire wine industry in the palm of his hand, but he doesn't like wine himself.

At the request of Diluc, the Dawn Vineyard several non-alcoholic beverages, a decision that was met with the round approval of those in Mondstadt who could not drink alcohol but wanted to participate in the drinking culture.

One of the non-alcoholic beverages is Mondstadt apple cider, whose success is on par with dandelion wine in terms of monthly sales volume.

Some think that Diluc must have such high standards when it comes to wine, that he is never seen drinking the mediocre quality wines that are available to the public.

Others think that drinking wine should surely remind him of his father, and that is why he does not touch it.

When asked repeatedly about his drinking habits, he responds by saying that alcohol clouds his thoughts, and that consuming it would affect his daily work.

But what people don't understand is, what kind of daily work does a vineyard owner do, if he requires that he never touch a drop of alcohol?

    Vision

Crepus had two regrets in life: the first was never becoming a knight, and the second was never having obtained a Vision.

For this reason, the moment Diluc received his Vision, he took it as an acknowledgment from the gods of the ambition shared by him and his father.

He was finally able to fill him with pride.

Only a few years later, his father died on a dark and gloomy day. The hopes and dreams that burned bright in the Vision of Diluc were extinguished in the torrential rain that fell that night.

No matter how upright and kind-hearted a person is, death can come without warning.

Is this where this story of justice ends? Like this, without more?

It seemed that his Vision and his knighthood were equally ineffective in protecting the things he treasured most. So he decided to get rid of both.

Recognizing his own helplessness, his Vision became a burden, not unlike a Deception.

The empty titles did not interest him. What he was looking for was an unshakable resolve, like a flame that burns everything. Only a firm resolve allows the one who seeks the truth to advance, and only the fiery flames can defeat the ice that freezes the hand of justice.

The day Diluc returned to Mondstadt, he took up his Vision.

The events of his years away had brought him out of his childish immaturity and made him a hero ready to take on his father's will once more. Every night, from the shadows, he fought for Mondstadt.

He didn't discuss the past, but he didn't deny it either.

For those who have lost everything, perhaps a Vision is a beacon of light given by the gods to help them find their way forward.

But for those with conviction a Vision is simply an extension of their strength, a means of channeling their will, a tribute to the experiences that have shaped them, and a testimony to the story of their life thus far.

    Curiosities

    • During the Legendary Mission Trapped in a Windless Land: Carmen Dei, Act I, we discover that Diluc sold the mansion where his family lived until the death of Diluc's father. The exotic vase that he has at the entrance of the Vineyards was a gift from Kaeya, as it was an object that he used to return his pyro vision.
    • Diluc has the habit of lifting his left glove; He does this on his character card, in idle animation, and before attacking enemies during certain scenes. This may be related to the fact that Diluc previously used his Deception on his left glove. (This is a headcanon that became popular. It is not official.)
    • According to the stories of some characters, the estimated age of Diluc is approximately 22 years. Diluc left Mondstadt after his father's death on his 18th birthday, and when he returned 4 years later, Varka, who embarked on his expedition 6 months before the game's history, was already gone.
    • Diluc and Jean are the only two Monstadt residents who know that Venti is Barbatos. While Venti also revealed her identity to Stanley, the latter has no recollection of their conversation.
    • José six fingers once sang in the Gift of the Angel but it was cast by Charles as it was a composition about Diluc. "Señor Diluc is like a good wine with a lot of ice. The first sip is like being in heaven, but if you drink too much it will hurt your head"

    Etymology

    • The name of Diluc is derived from the Latin word "Dīlūculum", which means "Dawn" or "Dawn".
    • His surname, Ragnvindr, may be derived from the Old Norse words "Regin" (Gods) + "Vindr" (Wind), which means "God of the wind".
